Limerick Institute of Technology is leading the development of a new Level 7 Manufacturing ICT apprenticeship and we are looking for Industry to take part in curriculum development.
The aim of the course is to address the skills gap created by the move towards Industry 4.0 and digital transformation in manufacturing. The apprenticeship is for existing level 6 qualified employees with backgrounds in engineering, I.T or technology to progress in their career and to attain greater knowledge and understanding of IOT, IIOT, Cyber-Physical Systems and how they relate to a modern manufacturing facility.
Following a competitive process, the Apprenticeship Council has indicated that it has the potential to issue validation for the B.Eng in Manufacturing ICT Engineering on the basis of further industry consultation. The feedback from industry will be included in the planned revision of the existing modules and in the development of new modules, the work-based learning and the industry project.
We will host a number of events across the country in order to meet with IT and Manufacturing companies who are on the cutting edge of Industry 4.0 in Ireland.
